80s Rock | Blondie

Some Blondie Wiki:

  • An American rock band founded by singer Deborah Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. Their first two albums were successful here in the United Kingdom and in Australia, but Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the United States until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978. Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles and was noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles incorporating elements of disco, pop and reggae, while retaining a basic style as a new wave band.
  • The band broke up after the release of their album The Hunter in 1982. Debbie, the lead vocalist, continued to pursue a solo career. The group reformed in 1997, achieving renewed success and a number one single in the United Kingdom with “Maria”. The group toured and performed throughout the world through the years, and was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the RockWalk of Fame in 2006.
  • Blondie has so far sold 40 million records worldwide.

What a bunch of bad influence, these Negrete people, selling the idea of guns and drugs and money! Or so I thought. But then I looked closer and realize there’s more to these shirt designs than meets the eye.

Negrete toyed with the things people often misuse and abuse — guns, drugs, and money — and converted them into statement t-shirts that are made of awesome. Now you can wear your favorite *cough*addiction*cough* with pride. :)

Vanilla Pink’s take on Shutter Shades

kanye-west-shutter-shadesYou know those shutter shades that Kanye West popularized in his music video, “Stronger”? Apparently, Kanye West was not the first person to wear shutter shades, and no, it’s not exactly a new invention by the modern fashion gods.

Shutter shades have been around since the early 80s, and were also called “venetian blinders”. They appeared in a couple of music videos, two decades ago, first in “Glittering Prize” by Simple Minds in 1982, and then in “Obsession” by Animotion in 1984. Yes, vintage fashion is the way to go, people.

Now before you start thinking I’m such a fashion and entertainment know-it-all (I think that’s our exclusive BNS reporter’s expertise right there, not mine), there’s an entire wikipedia page about Shutter Shades okay, so yeah, I just found out about this information now, too.

I received a pair of shutter shades from a friend last Christmas, and I only wore it about (uhm) once. Not that I didn’t think they’re cool and fashionable, don’t get me wrong. I just get annoyed at how they block my vision, I mean, it’s not like they can serve as real sun glasses you know? At 26, I’d like to be fashionable and practical, so no shutter shades for me, please. Gahhd, I’m getting old.

I think, however, that these shutter shades look better printed on shirt. :)

Ta-da.

Vanilla Pink Shutter Shades Tshirt

Vanilla Pink did a brilliant job at coming up with these awesome shirt designs. Available in these yummy colors, green, purple, and classic white, Vanilla Pink made sure that even without the real “venetian blinders”, you can still flaunt your Kanye-West-fashion-sense in (literally) flying colors.

One purple Shutter Shade T-shirt for me, please. Ktnxbai.

The Grand Evolution of T-Shirt Styles

Today’s T-Shirts aren’t what they used to be. They have evolved from simple Chinese tees to modern day urban style clothing. Indeed, t-shirts underwent a very long journey.

One of the t-shirt elements that have changed over the past years is its neckline. Today we can see V-necks and wide neckline shirts.

Another t-shirt variation we can see today is in the length. This is actually one of the most recent developments in t-shirts. Remember the difference between the short hanging shirts a few decades back and last decade’s long and super loose shirts?

How about the sleeves? This T-shirt element varies a lot. T-shirts offer different kinds of sleeves in terms of length, cut and style.

Other than the pure sake of fashion, t-shirt’s style can also change because of other factor – like the weather. Sleeves for instance become shorter in time for summer.

Colors and fabric used also changed through many years. Now we have techno-colored shirts and t-shirts made of other materials beside cotton.

Be Picky on your T-Shirt

T-shirts are a vital element in your daily wear. Almost every people I know are at ease every time they wear t-shirts. This type of clothing can basically be inexpensive garments with designs that vary from being simple to totally stylish.

There are a few people who believe t-shirts are just t-shirts. It means that they are all alike. They don’t really care about the specifics of it. There are some who only care about the color – therefore choosing their t-shirts is just as simple as red or black.

The standard type of t-shirt is a bit boxy. There are cut to be comfortable. Most of these t-shirts do not really care if they will flatter the wearer or not. If they do not, then you should. T-shirts can make or break your general appearance.

This is why one must be picky on his/her t-shirts. He must consider several factors like his body shape, height and skin color. True enough what t-shirt goes well for John may not be always okay for Peter.
