Inspired by New York Fashion

Behold, Brandneusense sightings on Polyvore!

It’s Autumn in New York and to some of us who enjoys watching Blair Waldorf’s and Serena Van der Woodsen’s fashion statements in Gossip Girl more than keeping track of who’s-dating-who-this-time, now is perhaps the best time to visit New York! What I love most about this time of the year in New York is, it’s neither extremely cold nor extremely warm! The most important part of the day would have to be checking the weather report to know if it’s warm enough to wear a dress with a pair of matching leggings, or if it’s too cold that you have to layer up.

Here are some New York-inspired ensemble featuring items from Brandneusense’s catalog:

Missin New York!!!

You can never go wrong with a pair of torn jeans, black shirt dress, bright accent scarf, faded denim jacket and chuck taylors! Check out this RollingStones Jersey Dress from House of the Gods, a very versatile piece of clothing which you can mix and match with practically anything! Don’t be afraid to accessorize in bright contrasting colors as well as some bloody red nail polish and lipstick!

Brooklyn Love

The purple revolution is on! Autumn and winter this year, they say, is about seductive color tones and enchanting mood, making purple the color to stock up on. Take for example this otherwise plain Suspender Crew Neck Dress from Religion which is immediately brought to life by a few pieces of purple accessories. Now what I love about this Crew Neck Dress is its flexibility as far as possible color combinations and accents are concerned, it can practically be worn with anything! Just make sure the weather report says it’s okay to ditch out the thick layers of outerwear if you’re thinking of wearing this jersey dress as is!

Dreaming of New York

Clean, elegant and Audrey Hepburn is the theme of this ensemble. I do love the neutral hues, tones and accents — brown, gold, and beige coming together to complement an otherwise plain black-and-white attire. This White Camo Vest from Bench is perfect for layering. Slightly longer than the body, it comes with enough length to tuck in, or, if preferred, to wear with a loose belt.

Alrighty, that’s it for the day y’all. Enjoy the weekend and happy strutting around under your layers!

Rainy Day Chic

The rainy season is here! Happy? LOL. I reckon you have a love-hate relationship with the rain, too. In a perfect world, rainy days are for staying home, tucked in a blanket with a cup of hot mocha and a good book. Unfortunately, we don’t always have the freedom to do that. Rain or shine, life goes on, and we’re expected to get off the comforts of our beds on a rainy morning and get ready to face another day at work.

But hey, rainy days doesn’t have to be a drag, really. For women, it’s easy to up the mood with just a carefully picked rainy day attire, yes?

Rainy Day Chic

Here are some tips to achieve a chic rainy day look:

  • First, help yourself by wearing that favorite dress! No really. Just because it’s raining you have to be all dark and gloomy too. Besides, what’s a raincoat for?
  • Accessorize! Pick a bright accent color to contrast the grey skies. Take advantage of the excuse to wear bright colored rain boots*, the kind with funky designs and patterns. Wear a red belt to match the boots, this will unify the overall look. And don’t be shy to carry around a flashy umbrella (red, why not)**, this will surely make you stand out in a crowd of moody campers!
  • At this point it’s okay to don yourself in black or neutral colored rain coat, not to overdo yourself. Just make sure it’s water resistant enough to keep you (and your outfit!) dry and warm. With that thought, you have to make sure you have a neutral colored rain jacket/coat in your wardrobe that you can match with any color or style of outfit, you know, especially if you’re in Manchester where it’s bloody raining all year round. Trust me, you’ll need that. :)
