Kate Moss at Glastonbury

News from Fashion Clothes and Accessories retailer Brand Neusense

When Kate Moss showed up for Glastonbury 2005, she made her usual impact on the fashion world, expanding the possibilities for personal style and expression. Always glamorous, and always daring, Ms. Moss paired big metallic tees with leather jackets, waistcoats with hot-pants, and added a pair of Wellington boots as a finishing touch.

Now, whilst we might typically expect any fashion statement made by Ms. Moss to spawn copycat efforts, until now, it wasn’t thought that she spawned an entirely different way of approaching the festival; one that makes for big spending on fashion and makes a big impact on retailers’ bottom line.

A recent survey by broadcaster Freeview shows that nearly 30% of festival attendees are spending upwards of £500 per trip just on fashion wardrobe and including fashion-worthy tents and shelters.

This impulse to spend on fashion which Freeview call the ‘Kate Moss effect’ showed that women were most likely to splurge on festival-oriented fashion in the form of new outfits and designer Wellies.

3000 fans were questioned for the survey, and the results indicated that music was not their main focus. 18% said that they spent less than five hours watching music, and nearly half had difficulty remembering the names of the bands they’ve seen.
