MJ’s Death Causes Web Fail

Hours, possibly minutes, after the news of Michael Jackson’s death broke out, search engines, Google specifically, experienced a down time.

Searchers who wished to verify the news got blank pages for answers between 2.40PM Pacific and 3.15PM Pacific. The error page warned users “your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application.”

Google’s Gabriel Strickler states, “It’s true that between approximately 2.40PM Pacific and 3.15PM Pacific, some Google News users experienced difficulty accessing search results for queries related to Michael Jackson and saw the error page.”

The hotness of the query went all the way to ‘volcanic.’

Even micro-blogging services such as Twitter experienced that down time and it is no wonder how millions of people all over the globe wanted the lowdown and verity of the King of Pop’s sudden demise.

Michael Jackson was 50 years old when he collapsed in his rented home before he was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The icon and his siblings were scheduled to haveĀ  a reunion later this year before the tragedy happened. Police are still investigating the cause of the singer’s death.
