Johnny Depp defines sexy again in 2009 according to People magazine as they name the 46 year old actor the “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2009.
Captain Jack Sparrow of the Pirates of the Carribean franchise is not new to this recognition, this is the second time that he receives this accolade, the first one was in 2003. The American actor is the third celebrity to accomplish such a feat. Of course Brad Pitt and the timeless George Clooney have gained similar recognition before.
Other celebrities that gained this prestigious title are Ben Affleck (2002), Jude Law (2004), Matthew McConaughey (2005), Matt Damon (2007), and the brooding, regenerative mutant Wolverine played by the Australian actor, Hugh Jackman who won it last year
The versatile actor, Johnny Depp, has played various eccentric roles such as a homicidal Barber in Sweeney Todd, an unpredictable pirate-treasure hunter in Pirates of the Caribbean, and a lonely Chocolate factory owner in the film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
