A decade ago a movie entitled, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote was in the works. Terry Gillam took faith in Johnny Depp even before his 2003 hit Pirates of the Caribbean launched the eclectic actor into superstardom. Given the current status of Johnny Depp, you’re sure that the movie is bound to be a hit.

But after a series of mishaps including financial issues and destructions of sets, the movie about the Spanish hero was set aside, and because of a number of delays, Johnny Depp is backing out, citing out scheduling conflicts.

Ewan McGregor will fill the void that Depp left. He will now be playing the role of the time travelling advertising exec, Tony Grisoni.

“He’s got a great sense of humour and he’s a wonderful actor. He’s wonderfully boyish and can be charming - when he flashes a smile, everybody melts. He wields it like a nuclear bomb!” hailed Terry Gilliam when asked about the decision of getting McGregor.

He will star opposite Robert Duvall playing the infamous Don Quixote.
