Celebrities Mourn Whitney Houston in Funeral
One of the most touching things to see this first part of the year is the final rites for the funeral service of dearly departed singer Whitney Houston. Days ago, several celebrities attended the final ceremony. The sudden death of the singer right a week ago has left the world in shock. Many of the celebrity’s friends also looked sad in the said final tribute.
The final tribute was held at the New Hope Baptist Church, the baptist Church which the soul singer first sang choir in. This is the same church where Whitney’s mother, Cissy Houston–a former backup singer for Aretha Franklin– practiced the young Whitney’s vocal prowess. Many felt that this is a good place to hold the singer’s final tribute.
The Bodyguard co-star Kevin Costner said in his final tribute, “Whitney returns home today to the place where it all began.” He continued saying “dry our tears, suspend our sorrow — and perhaps our anger — just long enough, just long enough to remember the sweet miracle of Whitney.”
Several gospel, soul and pop singers sang in this tribute including singers Aretha Franklin and Alicia Keys. Both singers recognized the beloved singer’s 30 year music career and its impact on the whole industry. Both also said that God allowed Whitney as a miracle to share her talents to the world.
Brandneusense expresses deep sadness over this tragedy. It’s a sad day for music.
