Judi Dench battling blindness
Oscar winner Judi Dench is suffering from an illness that may leave her blind for the rest of her life.
The 77-year old veteran actress is having problems with her eyesight. She sometimes require her daughter or her agent to read scripts for her.
In a previous interview with the Daily Mirror, the amazing performer shed light on her ailing eyesight, saying:
“It’s usually my daughter or my agent or a friend and actually I like that, because I sit there and imagine the story in my mind. The most distressing thing is in a restaurant in the evening I can’t see the person I’m having dinner with,” she revealed.
The impeccably dressed Dench is suffering from a retinal condition called Age-related macular degeneration which makes the victim endure progressive blindness. This is the leading cause of blindness in Americans age 65 years and older. It usually presents as a dark spot in a patient’s field of vision which makes them unable to perceive the object they are facing or the person they are talking to. It is related to aging, obesity and smoking. Currently, there are no known cure for this disease.
Despite this impending disability however, Judi Dench has proven in her long career and awards that she has made it in the acting and fashion world.
